I saw my friend Amy perform in Camp Wanatachi last night, a musical that is part of the currently running New York Fringe Festival. A synopsis from Camp Wanatachi’s site:
Spirit-soaked and hormone-charged, two 13-year-old girls fall in love at Christian summer camp. Live orchestra. Sick beats. Songs like “We All Need Jesus in Our Lives,” and “Let’s Ride Bareback.” This nostalgic musical is superfuturistic.
Congratulations to everyone involved! I enjoyed it a LOT. Travis Stewart (aka Machine Drum), whose music I have dug for a long while, contributed to some of the sound design and music, which I think was principally written by Natalie Weiss (aka Unicornicopia) who masterminded the whole thing. The show which finished its five show run for NY Fringe was sort of a preview of what will eventually be a full act musical. Someone give them the money they need to make it happen!
